Saturday marked the final home date for the Hinds Community College softball team, as the Lady Eagles hosted Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. On a day filled with emotion, it was the Lady Bulldogs of MGCCC who came away with two close victories in low-scoring affairs.

Hinds fell in game one, 3-2, and in game two, 3-1.

Courtenay Holt (Brandon) was a perfect 3-3 with a double and a run scored to lead the Hinds offense in the opener.

Bailey Dodd (Gulfport) and Alexis Kinard (Terry) each drove in a run in game one.

Bridgett Goss (Bogalusa, La.) went the distance in the circle for the Lady Eagles, but as in her last start, the Lady Eagles were unable to garner her up enough offensive support and she was saddled with the loss in the opener.

Tory Laird (Natchez) continued her hot streak of late in game two, as she was 3-4 with a run scored. Dodd was 2-4 and Bre Glenn (Brandon) drove in the game's lone run to assist the offense.

Jessica Travis (Oak Grove, La.) was brilliant in the circle in the second contest, as she went seven innings and allowed only three hits, one run (zero earned) and struck out three. She was handed a no decision, and it was Meagan Duchesne (Mangham, La.) who took the loss, allowing three hits and two runs late in the game.

The Lady Eagles (13-21 overall and 7-17 in conference) will travel to East Central Community College on Wednesday for a conference doubleheader starting at 12 p.m. The original start time was scheduled for 5 p.m. on Tuesday, but was pushed back due to weather concerns.
