The Hinds Community College football team tallied 508 yards of total offense on 68 plays to hammer Northeast Community College, 44-13, at Joe Renfroe Stadium in Raymond on Thursday night.

Hinds, ranked No. 20 in this week's National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) poll, is now 2-0, while Northeast falls to 0-2 on the season.

The two-headed quarterback system of Jaquez Parks (Griffin, Ga.) and TR Page (Taylorsville) was highly effective for the Eagles once again, as Parks was 11-22 for 177 yards and two touchdowns, while Page was 6-10 for 121 yards and two touchdowns of his own.

Javon Wims (Jacksonville, Fla.) had another monster night, as the sophomore wide receiver hauled in six catches for 193 yards and two touchdowns, including a 78-yarder and a 65-yarder.

The Hinds defense was stingy all evening, allowing only 236 yards of total offense (136 rushing, 100 passing) to the Tigers.

Sophomore defensive lineman Marcus Loud (Houston, Texas) had six tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss and a forced fumble to lead the Hinds defense again. He was helped by linebacker Barron Burns (Cleveland), who totaled six tackles.

Page got the scoring going for Hinds with 10:42 left in the first quarter when he found Bryant McDuffie (Petal) on a four-yard TD pass on the Eagles' opening possession. Mason Sollie (Raymond) drilled the PAT and Hinds led 7-0.

Sollie followed up his point after attempt with a perfect 36-yard field goal attempt on the next Hinds possession, and the Eagles now led 10-0 with 7:52 in the first frame.

It was now Parks' turn to join the scoring party, and he did just that, finding Marquez McNair (Magee) on a 14-yard touchdown strike with 34 seconds remaining in the opening quarter. Sollie's point after attempt was striped and Hinds took a 17-0 lead.

Tiberias Lampkin got Northeast on the board with an amazing 18-yard touchdown run with 12:45 in the second quarter, and after the Austin Holloway PAT, the score was 17-7 in favor of Hinds.

Parks connected with Wims on a 65-yard touchdown pass with 11:09 in the second, and Page hit Wims on a 78-yard touchdown pass with 6:28 left before half. Sollie added two point after attempts and the route was officially on.

Sollie would later add a 47-yard field goal that would have been good from much further out, and Hinds would move ahead, 34-7, with 3:08 before half.

The score would remain the same going into the locker room, but the Eagles did not waste time getting back on the board after the intermission.

DJ Sims (Buckatunna) rumbled in from four yards out with 11:07 in the third and Sollie nailed a 31-yard field goal with 4:04 left in the third quarter and Hinds now moved out to a 44-7 lead.

Sims had seven carries for 95 yards and a touchdown to lead all Eagle rushers while Sollie was perfect on the night, going 5-5 on PATs and 3-3 on field goal attempts.

Mackenro Alexander added the final score of the evening for Northeast with 6:55 to go in the game when he took a blocked field goal attempt from Tommy Boone (Brandon) 90 yards to the house for the score, but it was too little, too late.

The Northeast PAT was no good and completed the game's scoring at 44-13.

Charvarius Ward (McComb) grabbed his first interception of the season to aid the Eagles defense.

Hinds will hit the road next Thursday for the first time this season, traveling to Pearl River Community College to open South division play. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
