RAYMOND- The Lady Eagles just fall short in Saturday's game against East Central Community College in game two of the first round of the MACJC playoffs ending a successful season for the Hinds Community College softball team.
Â
The Lady Eagles played East Central in a best-of-three series that began on Friday, April 27 and ran through Saturday, April 28. In Friday's game one, the Lady Eagles took a tough 6 - 2 loss that meant they had to sweep the final two games of the series on Saturday in order to move-on. Despite coming out fighting in game two, the Lady Eagles fell late in the ballgame resulting in a 6 – 5 loss.
Â
Although the team was hoping for better luck in the playoff that would lead them to the MACJC State Tournament, the Lady Eagles surely count the 2018 season as a success. Their playoff berth marked the program's first postseason appearance since 2007 featuring a hot 8 and 3 start for the team. The team's success was highlighted by the performances of players like
Nikki Skerlong (Eros, LA) and
Madeleine Hart (Kingwood, TX) who each won MACJC Player of the Week honors for the Lady Eagles during the season.

The Hinds softball program, led by head coach
Mike Grzanich, will certainly look to build upon the success of this season moving forward as the team prepares for next season. To keep-up with the Hinds Lady Eagles softball team throughout the off season, follow them on Twitter at @LadyEagleSFBL for updates on the program.
