CLARKSDALE – The Hinds Community College Lady Eagles Softball team earned the double header sweep of the Coahoma Lady Tigers on the road this past Friday (April 12) with a 10-2 win in game one and a 12-1 victory in game two.
In game one the Lady Eagles pounded out 12 hits and 10 runs.
Madeleine Hart led the way with two hits including a homerun, three runs batted in (RBI), and two runs scored.
Sarah Kate Smith also added a hit and two RBI's of her own. Addtionally,
Kasy Cortezie,
Anna Taylor Belcher,
Sydni Lee,
Claudette Galvan, and
Hanna Mitchell all contributed one hit and one RBI apiece.
In the circle,
Cassidy Rhea earned the victory throwing three scoreless innings allowing just one hit while striking out three batters.
In game two, the Lady Eagles continued their hot hitting as they tallied 16 hits and 12 runs.
Hanna Wilkerson shined as she went 4-4 with three RBI's, and two runs scored.
Katie Cheeks added three hits and one RBI while
Sydni Lee and
Claudette Galvan collected two hits apiece. Lee also knocked in three runs while Galvan drove in two. Furthermore,
Kasy Cortezie,
Madeleine Hart, and
Samantha Keel each collected one hit and one RBI each.

Sydney Davis took home the victory throwing three scoreless innings allowing just one hit while striking out three batters.
The sweep of Coahoma improved the Lady Eagles overall record to 11-20 and 4-11 in the MACJC. Hinds has 15 games remaining in their regular season including 13 conference games.
The Lady Eagles are currently five games behind the final playoff spot but will look to gain ground as they take on Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College today, April 15 at home in Raymond on Renee T. Warren Field. Game one is scheduled for 3 p.m. with game two to follow at approximately 5 p.m.
