Hinds eSports ready for playoff run

Nine members of the Hinds Eagle Esports team remain alive in playoff competition this week, both individually and in team games.

Eric Benson finished 9-2 in the regular season in Madden and plays a member of Bismarck State College's team in postseason action.

Three players, Karvin Wade, Jaylan Montgomery and Glendon Jefferey square off against various opponents in Smash Players. Wade, who finished the regular season 11-0, faces a member of Eastern Arizona College's team. Montgomery finished 9-2 and faces a member of Ocean County College's team. Jefferey, who was 10-1 in the regular season, plays a members of Bruins ESPORTS.

The roster for playoff action in Call of Duty Cold War consists of Jefferey, captain Hunter Strahan, Kyle Thompson, Seth Watts and alternate Josef Rutledge. The team faces #1 Navarro College.

"This season has been the hardest that we have had to date," said head coach Tiki Broome. "Our team in 4 seasons has grown from 1 to 12 to 30. We have competed in more games than ever and our league has grown to 147 Colleges across the US. Im extremely proud of this team and the leadership they have displayed. We have what I believe this season the recipe to another national title."

Smash, 2k and Madden begin postseason play this evening, while Call of Duty begins Friday.
