RAYMOND – Hinds Community College football takes a break from division play when they head to Fulton to take on Itawamba Community College Thursday evening. Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m. on Eaton Field.
This game marks the second of three road games for the Eagles that will happen in the month of October. Hinds only had one away game in the month of September.
Week Six
In week six, both squads are coming off narrow wins. The Indians of Itawamba defeated Holmes Community College 35-28 on Homecoming and the Eagles of Hinds grabbed a 30-24 win on the road at Southwest.
Matchup History
This face-off between Itawamba and Hinds will be the 39
th time these teams have faced each other. Hinds holds a 26-9-2 advantage in the series.
The first meeting between these two teams was in 1955, with the Eagles taking home a 33-0 victory.
Last Meeting
The last time these two teams met was in 2017 when Hinds escaped with a narrow 35-31 victory on the road in Fulton. Itawamba's last win over Hinds was in 2016 when they won 45-20.
Prolific Passing
The Indians rank in the top-five in the Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference (MACCC) in passing yards. They are led in passing by Karson Green, who has completed 71 out of 125 passes for 884 yards and six touchdowns. On the receiving end, freshman Azaria Smith leads the team with 22 receptions for 402 yards and two touchdowns.
Running into Trouble
Hinds ranks first in the conference in rushing yards allowed per game with 70.2. The Eagle defense also ranks second in the league in total yards allowed per game with 264.

Ben Duncan (Florence) has now earned two conference special team player of the week honors for his performances against Pearl River and Southwest.
Always on the Run
Hinds leads the MACCC in rushing attempts and is third in total rushing yards. The Eagles are led by
Jamarian Samuels (Ocala, Fla.), who has 492 yards on 85 attempts and three scores, and
Jeffrey Pittman (Taylorsville), who has 404 yards on 82 carries and five scores.
Breast Cancer Awareness Night
The final home game of the 2022 season against Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College on October 20 will be Breast Cancer Awareness Night. We encourage all fans to wear pink to the game, and the first 1,000 fans will get a pink pom-pom. In addition, Hinds Athletics will be decorating the windows of Mayo Field House with ribbons that will include names of those who have gone through Breast Cancer.
