FULTON – Hinds Community College football dominated Itawamba Community College 34-7 Thursday evening at Eaton Field behind a five-turnover performance by the Eagle defense.
 
From the opening kick, it was all Hinds as they marched straight down the field to score. Finishing the drive off was Jeffrey Pittman (Taylorsville), who ran the ball in from one-yard out.
 
The first of the five Eagle defense turnovers happened on the Indians first offensive possession when Taylor Hunt (Flowood) fell on the loose ball. This turnover would lead to points when Ben Duncan (Flowood) nailed a 42-yard field goal to push Hinds' lead to 10.
 
Turnover number two occurred on the second Itawamba possession when Jaylan Ware (Starkville) recovered a fumble. This turnover wouldn't lead to points as the teams would trade punts on the next two possessions.
 
Pittman would cash in his second score of the game just as the second quarter began when he scored from two yards out. Itawamba, however, would answer with a score on their ensuing possession, but that would be the only points scored for them as the Hinds defense stiffened up to allow no further points.
 
Hinds would answer the Indian touchdown with another one of their own when Ranson Oakes (Raymond) would find Kaleb Mosley (Louisville) for a 17-yard touchdown to push the Eagle lead to 24-7 after the Duncan extra point was good.
 
Another quick offensive series for Itawamba would lead to more Eagle points when Duncan drilled his second field goal of the night. This kick came from 25-yards out.
 
The turnover party for the Eagle defense continued later in the third quarter when they would intercept a Karson Green pass. Coming up with the interception was Jaylen Knight (Hattiesburg). Knight intercepted the ball at the Eagle one-yard line and returned it to the 23. From there, the Eagle offense would go six plays for 72 yards and score another touchdown. This 17-yard score was Pittman's third rushing touchdown of the evening.
 
Ty'Verius Nichols (Starkville) picked up the Eagle's fourth turnover and second interception when he picked off Green deep in Eagle territory. On the next Itawamba possession, the Eagles would get their fifth and final turnover when Emahd Dabney (Jackson) intercepted Green's pass and returned it for 12 yards.
 
Time would eventually run out and the Eagle's would leave Fulton with a 34-7 dominant victory over Itawamba.

The final home game of the 2022 season against Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College on October 20 will be Breast Cancer Awareness Night. We encourage all fans to wear pink to the game, and the first 1,000 fans will get a pink pom-pom. In addition, Hinds Athletics will be decorating the windows of Mayo Field House with ribbons that will include names of those who have gone through Breast Cancer. These ribbons will be moved from the field house to Joe Renfroe Stadium's ticket plaza on gameday.
