Box Score 2 RAYMOND - The Lady Eagles got back in the win column and improved to a 4-2 record after another series sweep against the Lady Eagles of Coastal Alabama Community College North.

"I think our girls showed some resilience coming out after two tough losses the day before," said head coach
Mike Grzanich. All three phases of the game, offense, defense and pitching were in sync while scoring 16 runs on 23 hits and allowing two runs. These were two good bounce back wins."

Game one:

After falling behind 1-0 in the top of the first,
Hannah Tauzin (New Iberia, LA),
Sadie Parker (Flowood) and
Ashley Lightcap (Lafayette, LA) got the scoring started in the bottom half with back-to-back-to-back hits to even the score, and shortly would take a 3-1 lead on a two-out, two-RBI double by
Ava Aslam (Madison). In the fourth inning, the Eagle offense would string together five hits in a row by
Kaitlyn Papizan (Madison),
Franny Clark (Pearl),
Ivy Davenport (Madison), Tauzin and Parker to stretch the lead to 6-1. The offense would add one run in the sixth inning for the final score of 7-1.

In the circle, freshman
ShaeLa Lawrence (Leesville, LA) would record her second win of the season by going the distance, while only surrendering one run on two hits.Â

Game two:

The offense picked up right where it left off in game one. Tauzin, Parker and Lightcap got the game started with three consecutive hits again while scoring two runs. The offense would lull in the middle innings but caught fire in the bottom of the sixth. Parker, Lightcap and Aslam would load the bases to begin the inning, followed-up by an RBI sacrifice fly by freshman
Emilea Roberts (Gloster). After a walk by pinch-hitter
Macey Everett (Hernando), pinch-hitter, Lawrence, would deliver the first extra-base hit of the inning with a two-RBI double. Freshman
Melina Seiferd (Saucier) would drive in a run before
Kendall Calloway (Madison) and Clark would score the clinching runs on a Tauzin triple for the 9-1 run-rule victory.Â

Calloway once again held the Coastal hitters at bay going the full six innings, while only allowing one run on three hits and recording four strikeouts.

The Lady Eagles will be back in action Friday, February 18 and Saturday, February 19 at Northeast Park for the Meridian Rush Invitational.
