Box Score RAYMOND, Miss. - The Hinds Community College Men's Soccer team is advancing to the NJCAA Gulf South District Semifinals following a 2-1 victory over Itawamba on Saturday evening.
Ridchy Honore found the back of the net first in the contest off of an assist from
Cody Barnett early in first half. Shortly after the Indians responded on a ricochet to level the contest at 1-1. The score remained 1-1at the halftime break.
Coming out of the halftime break, the Eagles and Indians had opportunities to score early in the second half but after some strong defensive stands the score remained 1-1.
Ryan McQueen earned the match winning goal from a cross from
Oscar Tovar to take a 2-1 advantage midway through the second half. The Indians picked up the pressure late in the contest, but Hinds held strong to earn the 2-1 win over Itawamba at Tom Shepherd Field.
Hinds will now take on Jones College in a NJCAA Gulf South District Semi-final match on Thursday, November 7 in Ellisville. Kickoff with the Bobcats is set for 1:30 PM.
