Box Score RAYMOND, Miss. – The Hinds Community College Men's Soccer team celebrated Sophomore Night in dominant fashion, cruising to a 9-1 victory in a rain-soaked matchup on Tuesday evening. With the win, the Eagles improve to 12-2-2 overall and earn the right to host a Gulf South District Quarterfinal match this Friday.
Hinds came out firing on all cylinders, netting two goals in the opening six minutes and adding three more before halftime to take a commanding 5-1 lead into the break. The offensive domination continued in the second half, as the Eagles poured in four additional goals to invoke the eight-goal mercy rule with 18:45 remaining on the clock.
Gian Filizzola and 
Cody Barnett each recorded a brace, while August Kidiksen, 
Kendarius Smith, 
William Guevara-Gonzalez, 
Diego Ortiz, and 
Danny Vargas all found the back of the net once. Barnett, Lidiksen, and 
Oscar Tovar each tallied two assists, with 
Zion Milow and Filizzola adding one apiece.
Goalkeeper 
Elliot Duffy anchored the defense with a steady performance, allowing just one goal while making five saves.
The Eagles will be back in action Friday when they host East Central in the Gulf South District Quarterfinals. Kickoff is set for 5:00 p.m.
