TYLER, Texas – The Hinds Community College Women's Tennis team finished the national tournament with 15 points and tied for 13
th in the final standings.
The Lady Eagles had a stellar opening day of the tournament as they won four matches in singles play and won both doubles matches played on Saturday. On Sunday, the Lady Eagles earned the doubles sweep earning a victory in every opening match in doubles play.
In singles play,
Rodia Noudogbessi opened with a 6-2,7-6 victory over Mabiongo. Camila Mordiz also won her match by a score of 6-2, 6-0.
Macie Curtis won her match 6-0, 6-1 against Stout, while
Tierney Cronin grabbed a 6-4, 6-1 win in the opening day.
In doubles play, Daniela Lopez and
Josilyn James teamed up to earn the 6-1, 7-5 victory.
Macie Curtis and Rodi Noudogbessi posted a 6-4, 6-4 victory, while
Tierney Cronin and
Josilyn James rounded out the scoring for Hinds with a 6-1, 7-5 win.
Jones led the Mississippi schools with 24 points (7
th place) while MGCCC tabbed a 13
th place finish, and Hinds and Northwest tied for a 13
th place finish.
Hillsborough won the championship for the second time in three years with 52 points. Cowley College (Kansas) was second with 39 points and host Tyler was third with 35 points.
