MERIDIAN, Miss. – The Hinds Community College Baseball team delivered an impressive showing in conference play on Wednesday, sweeping Meridian Community College in a thrilling doubleheader with a 12-7 win in game one followed by an 11-10 victory in the nightcap.
GAME ONE
Hinds set the tone early in the opener, using a balanced offensive attack and strong pitching to secure a 12-7 win. The Eagles tallied 11 hits on the day and capitalized on timely hitting throughout the lineup.
Ethan Keen led the charge with a three-RBI performance and added a homerun, while
RJ Brown added a pair of hits and drove in two runs.
Brody Breithaupt continued his strong season at the plate, going 3-for-5 with two RBIs, and
Lane Almond contributed multiple hits and drove in a run.
On the mound,
Brady Griffin earned the win after tossing 6.0 solid innings, allowing just four runs while striking out two. The bullpen provided key innings down the stretch to preserve the lead as Hinds maintained control late.
GAME TWO
The nightcap proved to be a battle, as Hinds held off a late push from Meridian to complete the sweep with an 11-10 victory.
The Eagles exploded offensively once again, finishing with 14 hits.
Ethan Keen stayed hot at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and another homerun, while
Brody Breithaupt delivered a big game with three hits and three RBI.
Tanner Alhinai also made an impact, with a homerun as the designated hitter.
Hinds built an early lead, highlighted by a five-run second inning, but Meridian responded to keep things tight throughout. The Eagles bullpen was tested late, but
Charles Chisolm came up clutch, earning the win in relief and shutting the door in the final innings.
RJ Brown and KyIan Landers each added multi-hit performances, helping Hinds maintain just enough offensive firepower to outlast Meridian in the high-scoring affair.
Hinds will return to action on Saturday when they travel to Moorhead to take on Mississippi Delta CC. First pitch of the doubleheader is set for 12 PM.
