RAYMOND, Miss. – The Hinds Baseball Team has secured a spot in the NJCAA Region 23 Tournament and will open postseason play as the No. 9 seed against No. 8 Southwest Mississippi Community College on Monday, May 4 at 4:00 p.m. at Dub Herring Park on the campus of Pearl River Community College.
Hinds enters the tournament with a 27-20 overall record and a 13-13 mark in conference play, earning its place in one of the most competitive postseason fields in NJCAA Division II baseball. The Region 23 Tournament will run May 4–8 in Poplarville, with the tournament champion advancing to the Region 23 Super Regional and continuing the path toward the NJCAA Division II World Series.
Offensively, the Eagles have been one of the more consistent lineups in the region, posting a .315 team batting average with 446 hits, 65 home runs, and 334 RBIs this season. Key contributors throughout the lineup have helped power the Eagles, with multiple players hitting above .300 and providing production in key moments.
On the mound, Hinds has recorded 328 strikeouts this season, with several arms stepping up in both starting and relief roles to keep the Eagles competitive throughout the year. Defensively, the Eagles have turned 32 double plays and hold a .948 fielding percentage, highlighting their ability to make plays in crucial situations. With a balanced approach across all phases, Hinds will look to carry momentum into postseason play as it faces Southwest Mississippi in the opening round.

Pearl River enters the postseason ranked No. 1 nationally, with Jones at No. 11 and Copiah-Lincoln at No. 24 in the latest NJCAA rankings. The winner advances to the Region 23 Championship Series May 13-15, hosted by the highest remaining seed.
