PLYMOUTH, Ind. — The Hinds Men's Golf team wrapped up its season this week at the NJCAA
Division II Men's Golf National Championship, competing against the top programs in the country at Swan Lake Golf Resort.
The appearance marked a significant milestone for the program, as Hinds qualified for the national championship as a team for the first time since 2000.
Competing over four rounds in a 72-hole format, the Eagles faced a deep and nationally ranked field in challenging scoring conditions throughout the week.
Leading the way for Hinds was sophomore Stephen Faucheaux, who delivered one of the tournament's top individual performances. Faucheaux finished ninth overall at 5-over par to earn NJCAA Division II Second Team All-American honors. His tournament included rounds of +1, -5, +4, and +5, highlighted by an impressive second-round 67 that vaulted him into the top 10.
"For two years, Stephen has gone head-to-head with the best players in Region 23 and across the country and has had tremendous success," said head coach Chad Davis. "Stephen might not be the biggest, strongest, or longest, but he has the heart of a lion and has helped bring Hinds Golf back into the national spotlight."
Hinds' lineup gained valuable experience throughout the championship:
As a team, Hinds battled through each round against some of the strongest competition in NJCAA Division II, gaining valuable experience on the national stage. The championship was ultimately won by Murray State (Okla.), with several nationally ranked programs filling out the top of the leaderboard.
The Eagles' return to the national tournament represents a major step forward for the program, reinforcing its continued growth and ability to compete at the highest level. With a top-10 individual finish from Faucheaux and valuable experience gained across the lineup, Hinds will look to build on this momentum heading into next season.
