BRANDON, Miss. – The Hinds Community College Men's Golf team delivered a clutch, rain-soaked performance to secure a berth in the NJCAA Division II National Championship, outlasting Meridian Community College in a dramatic playoff at Castlewoods Country Club.
Competing in a 54-hole event under steady rain, the Eagles showcased resilience from start to finish. Hinds finished tied for second at 27-over alongside Meridian, forcing a winner-take-all playoff for the final qualifying spot. Hinds rose to the occasion, edging Meridian on the extra hole to punch its ticket to the national tournament.
Individually, the Eagles made a strong statement with one player finishing in a five-way tie for first place after 54 holes.
Stephen Faucheaux led the charge, finishing at +1 overall after rounds of 75-69-73.
Cole Baglione also turned in a consistent performance, carding rounds of 77-76-72 to finish at +9.
Christopher Cain delivered one of the best rounds of the tournament on the final day, firing a 69 (-3) to finish at +9 overall.
Trevor Antley added rounds of 77-81-73 to finish at +15, while
Jarrett Pettis rounded out the lineup with scores of 77-76-74 to finish at +11.
Under the leadership of head coach
Chad Davis, the Eagles battled through adverse conditions and delivered when it mattered most. Their composure in the playoff and depth across the lineup proved to be the difference in securing the program's place on the national stage.
Hinds Golf now turns its attention to the NJCAA Division II National Championship, where the Eagles will look to continue their impressive postseason run against the nation's top competition in Plymouth, Indiana.
