BROOKHAVEN, Miss. – The Hinds Community College men's golf team delivered a strong showing at the Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference Championship, finishing fifth overall out of 12 teams after two rounds of competition.
The Eagles were led by a standout performance from
Stephen Faucheaux, who put together an impressive tournament from start to finish. Faucheaux opened the championship in dominant fashion, firing a 66 (-4) in round one to sit atop the individual leaderboard.
Following his stellar opening round, Faucheaux battled through a competitive field on day two, posting a 74 (+4) to finish the tournament (E) overall. His consistent play across both rounds earned him a tie for sixth place individually. In addition, Faucheaux's performance secured him All-MACCC First Team honors, recognizing him as one of the top golfers in the conference this season.
Hinds also saw strong contributions from the rest of its lineup throughout the championship.
Christopher Cain turned in a solid two-round total of 74-72 to finish at 146, placing him tied for 19th overall.
Jarrett Pettis added a consistent performance with rounds of 76 and 75 to finish at 151, earning a tie for 33rd.
Cole Baglione posted rounds of 71 and 77 to finish at 148, placing him tied for 25th, while
Trevor Antley rounded out the Eagles lineup with a two-day total of 80-80 (160).
Hinds Golf will return to the links on April 27
th for the first round of the NJCAA Gulf District Championship. The Championship will be hosted at Castlewoods Country Club in Brandon.
