Jonathan Nevol

Jonathan Nevol is entering his fifth season as the head coach of the Hinds Community College men’s basketball program. Since taking over the program, Nevol has led the Eagles to multiple postseason appearances and steadily grown the program’s profile within Region 23. Under his leadership, Hinds has produced back-to-back playoff berths, a Region 23 Tournament quarterfinal appearance, and multiple All-MACCC and All-Region 23 player selections. His teams have consistently ranked among the top defensive units in the conference, while showing steady offensive improvement each season.

“Being named head coach at Hinds is more than a blessing—I’m astonished, and I have to give credit to God,” Nevol said upon his hiring. “I prayed and kept faith that I would receive a blessing such as this. Hinds is a very special place to me, and I’m excited to continue building the program.”

Nevol began his career at Hinds as an assistant coach in 2018, before being promoted to head coach for the 2021-2022 season. Prior to Hinds, he served as head coach at Blue Mountain College.

Earlier in his career, Nevol was part of a historic season at Jones College, helping guide the Bobcats to a 29-2 record, MACJC State Championship, Region 23 Championship, and a Sweet 16 appearance in the NJCAA Tournament during the 2016-17 season.

Nevol spent eight years with Andy Kennedy at Ole Miss, starting as a student manager before advancing to graduate assistant and video coordinator roles. While at Ole Miss, he was part of multiple postseason runs, including two NCAA Tournament appearances, a 2013 SEC Tournament Championship, and a 2010 SEC West title.

A native of Water Valley, Mississippi, Nevol holds both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in criminal justice from the University of Mississippi.

He remains committed to elevating the Hinds basketball program both on and off the court, continuing to develop student-athletes for success at the next level.
