Lady Bulldogs still in search of first victory


The first victory of the season for the Hinds Community College women's basketball team has been elusive to this point, as the Lady Bulldogs are currently 0-8 on the 2013-2014.

Hinds fell, 87-49, at Meridian Community College on Monday night. Rajee McDonald (Port Gibson) finished with the best night statistically against the Lady Eagles of Meridian, scoring 13 points, pulling down eight rebounds, handing out two assists and grabbing one steal.

The Lady Bulldogs opened South division play on Thursday, Dec. 5, and were defeated by Pearl River Community College, 76-50. Latorya Richmond (Columbia, La.) scored 16 points and had two rebounds and two steals in spite of the defeat. McDonald finished with 13 points, seven rebounds and one steal against Pearl River.

Hinds hosted Delgado Community College on Monday, Dec. 2, but were unable to grab the home win, falling to the Lady Dolphins, 51-41. Delania Wilson (Union) led both teams in points (16) and rebounds (eight) in the defeat.

Delgado also defeated the Lady Bulldogs, 54-41, on the Monday just prior to the Thanksgiving break. McDonald led all scorers with 12 points and also picked up three rebounds and two steals.

Hinds will head out-of-state on Monday for the final game before the Christmas break, as the Lady Bulldogs will take on Baton Rouge Community College at 3 p.m.

The 2014 section of the season will get back underway on Tuesday, Jan. 7 when the Lady Bulldogs head to Holmes Community College for a 6 p.m. tipoff.
