UTICA, Miss. - A new chapter begins for Hinds Community College women's basketball in Utica, as Lauren Dixon has been named the program's next head coach, bringing a winning pedigree and a passion for developing student-athletes.
Dixon arrives at Hinds after a highly successful run at Florence High School, where she built one of the most respected programs in the region. Her teams consistently competed at a high level, earning district championships, postseason appearances and a reputation for toughness and discipline. Beyond the wins, Dixon has been widely recognized for her ability to mentor young women and prepare them for success both on and off the court.
"I'm incredibly excited for the opportunity to become the next head coach of the Hinds Women's Basketball program," said Lauren Dixon. "I'm ready to hit the ground running in identifying and developing the next group of student-athletes who will believe in our vision and help restore the proud legacy of our Utica Campus."
A graduate of Mississippi College with advanced degrees in education, Dixon has deep ties to Mississippi and a strong understanding of the local basketball landscape. Her experience and connections are expected to play a key role in recruiting and continuing to elevate the Hinds Women's Basketball program.
Dixon's coaching philosophy emphasizes accountability, effort and continuous improvement. Her approach has produced not only successful teams, but also confident, resilient student-athletes' values that align closely with the mission of Hinds Athletics.
