Women's basketball still looking to get back on track

The Hinds Community College women's basketball team is nearing the completion of the 2012-2013 season with hopes of getting back on the winning track before the end of the year.

Hinds fell, 68-51, to East Central Community College on Thursday night in Decatur to drop to 2-17 overall and 1-7 in South division play.

Shelley Griffith (Jackson) led the way for the Lady Bulldogs in Thursday's loss, finishing with 15 points, two rebounds, one assist, one blocked shot and four steals.

On Thursday, Jan. 31, Hinds dropped a narrow contest, 67-64, to Pearl River Community College. Sharlandria Winston (Camden) paced the team with 16 points, six rebounds, two assists, two blocked shots and three steals.

The Lady Bulldogs hosted Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College on Monday, Jan. 28, and were hoping for a South division victory, but instead fell at the hands of the visiting Lady Bulldogs, 75-43. Quin'meka Shaw (Greenville) was the top performer for Hinds, scoring 16 points, collecting five rebounds and finishing with one assist, blocked shot and steal apiece.

The night of Thursday, Jan. 24, was one that the Lady Bulldogs would like to forget, as they fell 81-39 to Co-Lin Community College in Wesson. Mozetta Greenwood (Sharon) stood out for Hinds with eight points, five rebounds, one blocked shot and one steal.

Hinds will return to action on Monday, as they host Jones County Junior College in a 6 p.m. matchup in Utica.
