Women's basketball falls to East Central on Tuesday

The Hinds Community College Lady Bulldogs dropped a 100-68 decision to East Central Community College on Tuesday night at J.D. Boyd Gym in Utica.

Despite the loss, it was a breakout night for Sh'Nika Smith (Canton), as she exploded for 20 points on 8-10 from the field and 4-7 from the free throw line. She also had eight rebounds, three steals and two blocked shots.

The Lady Bulldogs (2-12) played host to Meridian Community College on Thursday, Jan. 15 but were unable to come away with a victory, falling to the visiting Lady Eagles, 68-40.

Te'Ara Thompson (Pascagoula) was the lone double digit scorer for the Lady Bulldogs, finishing with 11 points, as well as dishing out four assists and picking up a steal.

The Lady Bulldogs will return home on Thursday night to welcome Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College to Utica for a 5:30 p.m. tipoff.
