UTICA- The Lady Bulldogs have been bulldozing their way through the competition to start the 2017-18 season going a perfect 3-0.
In their first game, the Lady Bulldogs defeated the Lady Trojans of Mississippi Delta on the road in Morehead 81-66. Freshman guard, Victoria Johnson (Camden) and sophomore guard,
Ernesha Chatman (Natchez), led the way with 16 points apiece. Sophomore forward,
Olivia Jorden (Clinton) collected her first double-double of the season scoring 13 points and hauling in 14 rebounds.
In their second game, the Lady Bulldogs dominated Delgado Community College winning 100-47. All five starters for the Lady Bulldogs collected double-digit points including: Victoria Johnson - 21 points, Antionette Womack (Jackson) - 15 points,
Ernesha Chatman – 14 points,
Olivia Jorden – 12 points, and Kirdis Clark (Natchez) – 10 points.
Last night (Nov. 13), the Lady Bulldogs broke the century mark for the second time this season once again defeating the Lady Trojans 105-80 this time at home in Utica. Johnson led the way again with 26 points followed by Womack's 17 points and freshman guard, Chrishonda Montgomery's (Jackson) 12 points.
Third year head coach,
Tomekia Reed, has been content with the way her team has played thus far stating, "We put an emphasis on playing aggressive and putting our opponents away early. We still need to clean some things up, but I have been pleased with our development up to this point."
Through three games, Reed's team has averaged 95.33 points per game while only allowing 64.33 points a game.
The Lady Bulldogs will be back home in Utica this Thursday, Nov. 16, to take on Holmes CC. Game time is set for 5:30 p.m.
