RAYMOND- The Hinds Eagle football program added three more former standouts to their long list of National Football League (NFL) players.
Former Hinds Eagle and Georgia Bulldogs wide receiver, Javon Wims (Miami, Fl.), was selected by the Chicago Bears in the seventh round (224
th pick overall).
In 2015, Wims led Hinds to a 6-3 record by hauling in 47 receptions for 779 yards and 9 touchdowns. Wims was honored as an NJCAA Second Team All-American. He then transferred to the University of Georgia where last season he played in all 15 games with 14 starts and helped the Bulldogs reach the FBS championship game. Wims led the Georgia Bulldogs in all receiving categories with 45 receptions for 720 yards and seven touchdowns.
Following the NFL draft last week, former Hinds defensive back Charvarius Ward (McComb) and former Hinds offensive lineman DeVondre Seymour (Suwanne, Ga.) where signed as free agents. Ward was signed by the Dallas Cowboys and Seymour was signed by the Kansas City Chiefs.
While at Hinds in 2014, Ward had 32 total tackles and led the team with three interceptions. Ward then transferred to Middle Tennessee State where he finished his career with 74 total tackles, 2 interceptions, and 21 pass break ups.
DeVondre Seymour led the offensive line and helped Hinds reach the Brazos Bowl in 2013 finishing with a 7-3 record. Seymour signed with the University of Georgia but ended finishing his collegiate career at the University of Southern Illinois.
