RAYMOND- The No. 14 ranked Hinds Community College Eagles baseball program split a double header with the No. 2 ranked Jones College Bobcats Wednesday (Mar. 27) afternoon in two polar opposite ball games.

Game one of the double header went in favor of the Bobcats as their offense exploded for 14 runs on 17 hits to win the game 14-0 in five innings.

Game two, however, was a role reversal as the Eagles contained the Bobcat offense to just five hits and two runs (one earned run). The Eagles offense also bounced back pounding out 12 hits and 9 runs giving Hinds the 9-2 victory in seven innings.

On the mound in game two, Preston Johnson earned his fourth win of the season as he threw six innings allowing just five hits and one earned run. Landon Tomkins closed the game out with a dominate inning where he allowed no hits and struck out two Bobcat batters.

At the plate, Luke Clement led the offensive onslaught with two hits including a double, a grand slam, and five runs batted in. Colby Collier was also an offensive spark as he collected two hits of his own including a triple that started the inning where the Eagles scored six runs. Pablo Lanzarote collected two hits as well including an RBI single that gave the Eagles a 3-2 lead; a lead in which they would hold the remainder of the game.

Additionally, John Bolton, Jovante Dorris, Josh Cofield, Walker Burchfield, Connor Carter, and Garret Clarke all contributed a hit for the Eagles.

The #14 ranked Eagles (16-5,4-2) have moved up their double header against Holmes Community College (21-5, 4-4) originally scheduled for this Saturday (Mar. 30) to this Friday, March 29. The games will be played at home on Joe G. Moss field in Raymond with game one set to begin at 3 p.m. and game two to follow thirty minutes after.
