DECATUR – The Lady Bulldogs of Hinds Community College fell to the East Central Community College Warriors last night by a final score of 64-57. The Bulldogs trailed the whole game but were never out of it with a seven-point difference at halftime (ECCC 32 – HCC 25) and a seven-point difference by the end of the game.
The Lady Bulldogs showed some promising performances on the night before injuries proved to be their undoing.
Freshman
Acacia Stewart (Hazlehurst) showed one of her best performances of the year by recording a double-double with 11
points and 10 rebounds.
Freshman
Annissa Jackson (Tylertown) tallied 8 points.
Freshman
Andrika Carter (Philadelphia) had a stellar performance with 10 points and 7 rebounds before she left the game in the 3
rd quarter with a possible concussion.
Freshman
Kerrigan Johnson (Tucker, GA) also scored 10 points before she left in the 2
nd half with a high ankle sprain. Johnson has been spectacular this year as she leads the Bulldogs in points and three-pointers.
Injuries and inexperience has plagued the bulldogs this year as they look to break their current skid, Coach Martin-Glass commented "We need to get healthy, we have girls down due to injuries and illnesses and just lost two more tonight. Teams have been able to pull away late just because we haven't been able to play healthy."
The Lady Bulldogs still have well over half of their conference schedule left to play and time to reclaim health in order to make a run.
The Lady Bulldogs sit at 2-11 on the season and 0-6 in the MACJC.
They will play again this coming Monday, January 27
th at J.D. Boyd Gymnasium against the Mississippi Coast Community College Bulldogs.
