RAYMOND – Hinds Community College Cheer, under the leadership of first year head coach
Karlee Nobles, shined at their summer camp held at the University of Alabama.
"I am extremely proud of the growth the team made at camp," said head coach
Karlee Nobles. "Camp is about learning to work together as a team, learning material quickly and being evaluated on the material."
At the camp, the Eagle cheer squad took home three blue ribbons, which goes to teams who are judged as superior and are game day ready. Hinds was the only Large Co-Ed junior college to be awarded a Superior trophy during the awards participation.
"This team consists of 15 rookies and for them to come home as an all-superior team speaks volumes about their potential to be successful on the sidelines and on the competition floor this season," Nobles said. "I am very excited about this season."
In addition to the team honors, three members were selected to serve on the Universal Cheerleaders Association (UCA) staff. Sophomores Jayln Mills, of Waynesboro, Brelyn Bankston, of Terry and Chris Williams, of Gulfport were selected. These three Eagles get the chance to travel to different UCA camps and teach material and technique to teams all across the country.
