JACKSON, Miss. –
Dylan Coleman and
Connor Chisolm of the Hinds Community College Baseball team were recognized by the Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference on Tuesday following the 2023 season.
Dylan Coleman had a stellar season for the Eagles as he primarily managed the hot corner for Hinds. Coleman was the only Eagle to earn MACCC Player of the Week honors during the 2023 season. The Clinton, Miss. native finished the year hitting .412 at the plate as he played in 50 of the 51 games this season. Coleman racked up a team-high 18 doubles, 14 homeruns (tied
Justin Williams for the homerun record during the BBCOR Era), and a team-high 66 RBI.
"Dylan sat in the middle of our lineup as a marked man all season, yet continued to produce for us at a very, very high level. His power numbers and ability to drive in runs was huge for our team, and he did it over and over again. To have a season with 18 doubles, 14 home runs and 66 RBI is one for the ages, and he deserves any accolades that come along with this. He also played a very steady third base for us and was very consistent over there. He is a great young man and student and will be sorely missed," said Head Baseball Coach
Dan Rives.
Connor Chisolm landed a spot on the All-MACCC First team as a second baseman after an incredible season for the Eagles. Chisolm led the Eagles with a .419 batting average in 50 games played and totaled 70 hits. Additionally, he posted 11 doubles, a team-high four doubles, tallied nine homeruns, and was third on the team with 39 RBI. On the base paths, he stole 31 bases on 33 attempts.
Coach Rives stated, "Connor had an unbelievable season for us in terms of consistency & production in so many categories. His ability to get on base is about as good as I've seen, and once he was on base, he was a stolen base threat nearly every time. He also played the game extremely hard, and worked it at every day with a burning desire. Connor is exactly the type of player to build a program around, as he is top shelf both on and off the field."
