RAYMOND, Miss. – Freshman
Abigail McLean of the Hinds Softball team has been named the Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week after a pair of dominant performances that powered the Lady Eagles to key conference victories.
McLean was nearly untouchable in the circle across two appearances, finishing the week with a 2-0 record and 12 scoreless innings pitched. She allowed just four hits while striking out seven and posting a perfect 0.00 ERA.
Her most impressive outing came in game two against East Central Community College, where the freshman fired a no-hitter in a 9-0 run-rule victory. McLean was in complete command throughout the contest, shutting down the ECCC lineup and not allowing a single hit in the five-inning performance.
She followed that with another standout effort against No. 17 Northwest Mississippi Community College, tossing a complete-game shutout in a 3-0 victory in game two of the doubleheader.
In addition to her pitching dominance, McLean also contributed at the plate during the week, hitting .545 (6-for-11) with two doubles, two RBI, and a .727 slugging percentage.
McLean and the rest of the Lady Eagles will return to action on Wednesday, April 15
th against No. 5 Pearl River in Poplarville.
