Lady Bulldogs pick up narrow victory over Coahoma

The Hinds Community College Lady Bulldogs basketball team picked up their first win of the 2012-2013 season on Monday night, defeating Coahoma Community College, 54-52, in Utica.

The win moved Hinds to 1-1 overall. The Lady Bulldogs fell, 67-59, to Mississippi Delta Community College in the season opener last Thursday.

On Monday night versus Coahoma, it was a collective team effort that earned the victory, as no Lady Bulldog finished in double digits in the scoring department, but had contributions throughout the lineup with 11 team members scoring at least one point.

Marshay Jones (Jackson) and Delania Wilson (Union) led the way with nine points apiece in Monday's victory over the Lady Tigers.

Wilson had a big night in the season opener as well, which was her debut in a Hinds uniform. She finished the game with 17 points to lead all scorers from her team, and finished with seven rebounds.

Shelley Griffith (Jackson) was also stellar in the team's first game, finishing with 15 points, five rebounds, one assist and one steal in 36 minutes of play.

Hinds will return to action on Thursday, hitting the road for the first time en route to Senatobia to face Northwest Community College. Game time is set for 5 p.m.
