Women aim for victory in Thursday's finale

The 2012-2013 season is near completion for the Hinds Community College women's basketball team, and the Lady Bulldogs hope to end the campaign on a high note Thursday night in Perkinston versus Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College.

Hinds fell, 68-50, to Co-Lin Community College on Monday night to drop to 2-20 overall and 1-10 in South division play.

The Lady Bulldogs had three student-athletes finish with 11 points apiece on Monday evening to lead the offense, including Mozetta Greenwood (Sharon), Shelley Griffith (Jackson) and Quin'meka Shaw (Greenville).

The ladies took a trip to Summit on Valentine's Day to face Southwest Community College, but were unfortunate in claiming a victory, falling 76-55.

Greenwood was the lone double digit scorer for Hinds, finishing with 17 points. She also had nine rebounds and two steals on the night.

A week ago, Hinds played host to Jones County Junior College, and was defeated, 96-76, in Utica.

Sharlandria Winston (Camden) led all Hinds scorers with 17 points. Vandria Dampier (Brandon) pitched in with 12 points, five assists and five steals in the losing effort.

The season finale starts at 6 p.m. on Thursday on the campus of Gulf Coast.
