The Hinds baseball team was scheduled to play a doubleheader at Northeast Community College in Booneville on Friday, but due to heavy rains forecasted in the northern part of the state, the double dip has now been moved to Raymond.

The first game is slated to begin at 1 p.m. at Joe G. Moss Field on the Hinds Community College Raymond Campus. Due to the location change, the games will not feature a live video stream on the Hinds website.

Also of note, Hinds will travel to Cleveland on Monday to take on Arkansas Baptist College in a neutral site doubleheader at 2 p.m. The games were originally set for Legion Field in Greenville, but have now been moved to the home field of Delta State University.

Hinds traveled to Scooba on Tuesday to take on East Mississippi Community College and fell twice to the Lions in stunning fashion. East Mississippi won game one, 7-5, in extra innings on a walk-off grand slam with two outs, and also took game two, 6-4.

Quade Smith (Brandon) was the pace setter offensively in game one, going 3-5 with two RBI, while Matt Jones (Madison) was 2-3 with one RBI and a base on balls.

Derek Martin (Flora) took the loss to fall to 0-1 on the young season.

Luke Reynolds (Forest) led the Hinds offense in game two, going 2-3 with one RBI and a run scored.

Houston Case (Brookhaven) was the hard-luck loser on the mound in the second game, despite not allowing a single earned run in 3.2 innings. He is now 0-1 on the season.

The Eagles played host to Panola (Texas) College on Saturday, and just like Tuesday, lost two close ball games. Hinds dropped game one, 7-4, before falling in the nightcap, 6-5, to the visiting Ponies.

Marshall Boggs (Cleveland) carried the load offensively in Saturday's first game, finishing with two hits, two runs scored and one RBI in the loss.

In the second game, the Eagles ended the contest with 11 hits, but it was not enough to overcome the one-run deficit. Reynolds had another big game for Hinds, going 2-4 with two runs scored.

Toler Robinson (Pearl) and Caleb Upton (Natchez) each had two hits for the Eagles in the nightcap on Saturday. Robinson had two RBI, while Upton led the way with three runs driven in.
