The Hinds Community College baseball team opens South division play at home this afternoon at 3 p.m. with a doubleheader against Southwest Community College.

The Eagles are coming off a weekend that saw them win three of four games in the annual Wes Cliburn Memorial Tournament.

Hinds defeated Kishwaukee (Ill.) College, 21-1, and Arkansas Baptist College, 5-1, on Saturday, before beating Arkansas Baptist, 11-10, in game one on Sunday and falling, 11-3, in the nightcap.

Luke Reynolds (Forest) finished the first game blowout with three hits, including a first inning grand slam for his first collegiate home run to cap off an amazing 17-run opening frame against Kiswaukee on Saturday.

Randy Bell (Woodville) threw three scoreless innings in the five-inning contest to pick up the win on the mound and improve to 2-1.

Chase Lunceford (Clinton) blasted his first collegiate home run in the second game victory over Arkansas Baptist and Toler Robinson (Pearl) hammered an opposite field homer to give the Eagles a cushion and eventual victory. The duo each had four hits on the afternoon.

Casey Sutton (Monroe, La.) was stellar yet again on the mound, allowing only one run in four innings to get the victory on the hump and improve to 2-1 on the season.

Caleb Upton (Natchez) hit an opposite field solo home run to tie Sunday's opener at 10 with no outs in the bottom of the seventh and Reynolds capped things off with a walk-off single to score Brian Mills (Mendenhall) for the game winning run.

Austin Sanders (Madison) came on in relief in the top of seventh inning to keep things at a one-run game and was able to get the win on the mound after the thrilling comeback. The freshman right-hander moved to 2-0 on the year.

Mills hit his second home run of the season in game two on Sunday against Arkansas Baptist, but it was not enough for the Eagles to overcome. Derek Martin (Flora) got the loss on the mound in his first collegiate start to fall to 1-2.
