Hinds defeats Gulf Coast on Monday night

The women's basketball team at Hinds Community College scored a pivotal 71-54 victory over Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College at J.D. Boyd Gym in Utica on Monday night.

The win moved the Lady Bulldogs overall record to 10-12 and 4-9 in the South division.

Alexia Williams (McCalla, Ala.) led the way with 17 points, while Areleatha Gipson (Montgomery, Ala.) and Annessia Durham (Utica) had 13 points apiece.

Hinds also played host to East Central Community College on Thursday, Feb. 11, but were unable to come a win, and fell to the Lady Warriors, 67-59.

Isheer Davis (Raymond) had a big night against ECCC, as she collected a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.

Gipson had 12 points, five rebounds and three steals, while Durham had 11 points and three steals versus the Lady Warriors.

The Lady Eagles will complete the 2015-2016 regular season on Thursday night, traveling to Jones County Junior College for a 5:30 p.m. tipoff.
