Box Score UTICA – The Hinds Community College women's basketball team recorded their first win of the 2021-2022 season when they beat Holmes Community College 80-76 Thursday evening.
Being down 14 points at halftime, Hinds outscored Holmes 55-37 in the second-half to secure the victory.
The Bulldogs were led by sophomore guard
Patrice Broomfield (Clarksdale), who scored a season-high 40 points in the win. Freshman
Jasmine Sheppard (Columbia) found double digits, scoring 14 points and draining three three-pointers in the second half. Coming off the bench, freshman center
Chanel Gayden (McComb) tallied 10 points.
Hinds also took care of business at the charity stripe, making 86% of their free-throws.

ShaRhonda Gipson was proud of the fight the team had.
"I'm extremely proud of how the ladies fought and not folded tonight," Gipson said. "They played with fight and energy, even after being down by 14 at the half. They saw it to the end, doing the small things to accomplish one goal, victory. To God be the glory!"
The Lady Bulldogs will be back on the hard-wood on Monday, February 14 as they head to Ellisville to take on Jones College. Tip-off is slated for 6 p.m.
