The Eagles dropped game one, 9-7, to EMCC on Sunday in a doubleheader played at Smith Wills Stadium in Jackson before winning the nightcap, 6-5, to advance to 21-15 overall and 13-7 in the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC).

Hinds won game one, 11-7, at Co-Lin before winning the nightcap, 7-6, to get the two game sweep on April 12.

Hunter Wilson (Brandon) had three hits in the winning effort in game two against the Lions.

In Tuesday's opener at Co-Lin, it was Newsom who provided the clutch offensive punch, as he blasted a pair of home runs and finished the 11-7 win with five RBI on the contest.

Ryley Balch (Argyle, Texas) and Chase Cockrell (Bastrop, La.) each had two hits in the opener to assist Newsom's standout performance.

Timothy Jordan (Laurel) grabbed the win on the mound after a shutout eighth inning, which was just before the Eagles picked up four additional runs in the ninth inning to gain a four-run advantage.

In the nightcap versus Co-Lin, the Eagles of Hinds trailed 6-5 going into the seventh and final inning, but grabbed a run in the seventh and one in the eighth to move ahead and pull out an eventual 7-6 victory.

Logan and Donte Peters (Columbia) each had two hits in the final contest in Wesson, with Peters picking up two RBI and Logan scoring three runs and grabbing an RBI.

Koestler picked up yet another win on the hill after going the final 2.2 innings and finishing with five strikeouts, while not allowing a run to cross.

Hinds will be at home on Tuesday, welcoming Southwest Community College to town for a 3 p.m. first pitch at Joe G. Moss Field in Raymond.
